Tension headaches, can be caused by a host of different muscles

Tension Headache

Tension headaches are headaches caused by the stress of the muscles of the neck and shoulders on the skull. When the muscles tighten or spasm, they pull on the bones of the skull, causing pain.

Active myofascial release technique employed by Dr. Bradshaw and Dr. Schuster coupled with chiropractic is extremely successful at relieving this uncomfortable situation. Pain relieving medications and muscle relaxants tend to be successful as well, but chronic usage (more than 3 times a week, or 10 days in a month) is associated with intense rebound headaches when not on the medication.

Tension headaches are often more diffuse in presentation than most other types, although it tends to have a few focal areas. The most common presentation of a tension headache is a tight shoulder muscle and a dull vice-like headache at either the back of the skull or in the temples.
